Is your church committed to welcoming refugees and asylum seekers? In Summer 2019, we are launching a Welcome Network, a national network of churches committed to welcoming refugees and asylum seekers into their communities, reducing the isolation of thousands of refugees each year. Joining our network will give you access to:

  • A national referral system to help refugees find your church or another church in a different area

  • Ongoing training, support and expert advice

  • Connection with other Welcome Churches

Get in touch to find out how your church can join in!

welcome Training

Get equipped to welcome refugees and asylum seekers.

Receive Coordinator and Welcomer (volunteer) training for one of our Welcome Projects.

We offer tailored Action Planning and Training to churches to help you develop how you can welcome refugees and asylum seekers in your local context.

An Action Planning Day helps you to:

  • Identify gaps in local services

  • Identify your church’s potential and capacity for welcoming and integrating refugees

  • Identify the resources and training you require to take the next step

  • Set an achievable and effective plan for the next twelve months. This will include timescales for further training and starting your projects or activities.

Our Welcome Training ensures your church volunteers are able to give a good ‘Welcome’ to refugees arriving, work well cross-culturally and provide community where people from other cultures feel they can belong.

Welcome Projects

We believe that newly-arrived refugees and asylum seekers deserve the very best quality of care and support that is on offer. Our projects equip and resource the local church to play a positive role in welcoming refugees to their local area.

Welcome Boxes

Specifically equipping churches to welcome and support asylum seekers, housed in Home Office accommodation.  Trained volunteers deliver a Welcome Box, filled with small gifts, to the homes of people who have recently arrived in the area. They provide information about local groups and services and support asylum seekers to find a place to belong within community.

Welcome Holidays

Do you live in an area where other people like to come on holiday? We are looking for churches who could host a Welcome Holiday, giving refugees the chance to escape from the stress and chaos that life in the UK can bring.

Empowering churches and volunteers to positively engage with the government's Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme in your local area. This includes equipping churches to take a lead in facilitating community sponsorship of refugees in their local community.
